What’s a bench system?

A bench system is a fairly new development in office desking. It is generally used for areas where there are large numbers of staff, but can also be used where perhaps roles are constantly changing – and flexible desk size is needed. The basic theory is that by sharing components, such as legs and frames you can save costs and reduce the amount of obstruction under the desk. This basically means that if you have a 4 person, or an 8 person cluster of desks you only have a leg in the very corner of the whole unit – and then a number of recessed legs in between. These desks can essentially be made as long as you like – although most are for no more than 12 people in one unit.
