Steve Allan – Managing Director
Steve started the company as Evolution Furniture in 2004, after working with some of the most prominent names in the industry. Steve started in the office products industry in 1992, and has spent over 25 years learning his way round.
He started the company because he loves furniture and interior design, but felt that overall things could be improved for the customer. We rebranded in 2008 to Verve Workspace to reflect the overall services we offer. Steve is passionate about furniture and making sure our customers get the right advice as well as service levels that will delight.
Steve was born in Glasgow and is married with three young daughters. Having lived most of his life in London, he moved to Northamptonshire for some fresh air and countryside. He is a huge car fan, and enjoys driving and cleaning his car. He loves films and music and was a successful London DJ in the early to late 1990’s performing for TV companies and celebrity parties, private functions, nightclubs and even royal family events.
Steve is also known for his bad jokes, and the ability to remember them at the most inappropriate moments. He denies that he looks like a taller Ricky Gervais (or did when he was younger and had some hair anyway).
Jay Iddles - Sales Manager
Jay joined our sales team in 2014, having worked as an estate agent for some years. Thankfully, he’s not your stereotypical estate agent and all our customers like Jay and his helpfulness and enthusiasm.
He is always keen to help, and goes out of his way to help our customers solve challenges, and make projects run smoothly.
Jay is married with two young children, and he enjoys DIY and going to the cinema. Jay is a huge Queen and Freddie Mercury fan, and is often found humming/singing their songs –even though he was only 4 when Freddie Mercury passed away. If he breaks into song in your office – we can only apologise in advance, and be grateful he’s not a Justin Bieber fan instead.
John Hagerty - Scotland office
John runs our Scotland office, and works on mainly projects in and around the Glasgow area. John was a 'mover and shaker' in the fashion world in the late 80's and is also a trained draughtsman. John has experience managing many interior and building projects, and can talk the hind legs off a donkey! And as if being a man of many talents isn't enough, he still feels he looks more than a passing resemblance to Liam Neeson. Allegedly.
John is married and has two sons.
Emily Grammer - Operations Manager
Emily joined the Verve Workspace team in 2010 and makes sure the office (and everything else) runs smoothly. As an English graduate from Leicester University she is very thorough, and is involved in ensuring customers are kept informed, and all systems run properly.
She is famous for giving her 'thumbs up' and describes herself as a 'geek'. We wouldn't know about that - but she is always cheerful, very helpful - and she really goes out of her way to do things properly. In her spare time, Emily enjoys literature, cycling, rugby, and watching films. She silently corrects your grammar although rarely corrects you.
Emily is a keen 'Saints' rugby fan - and is passionate about their performances. Emily is often dragged to visit car shows across the country by her new husband, Sean (or Boris, as he's affectionately known).
Lewis Godbolt - Sales Executive
Lewis joined Verve in 2012 and really has made himself a valuable part of the team. Lewis assures us he is a humble and quiet young man, who brightens up our office with a flawless combination of both razor sharp wit and a touch of sincerity that is rarely found amongst the 'youth' of today. We're not sure about this - however, we have found him to be a funny, modest and extremely likeable guy - and our customers seem to agree.
Lewis is very consciencious, positive and helpful, and his 'can do' attitude has been received well by our customers. Lewis works particularly on the Ecommerce side of Verve, and enjoys talking to our customers on the phone, on our livechat - or even when they come to the office in person.
Despite once resembling a member of the pop group 'One Direction' (which we try not to hold against him) - he is tone deaf - much like the band. Lewis likes to demonstrate this fact by singing in the office - which in all fairness is a welcome break to his joke telling. Which is awful. And I mean really bad. Poor Emily now has our terrible jokes in stereo.
He is always keen to help, and goes the extra mile for everyone - a valued member of the Verve team.
Naomi Holmes - Administration
Naomi joined the Verve team in our Northampton office in 2015, and is a valuable member of the admin team. Her attention to detail, and making sure that everyone has all the information they need helps everything run smoothly.
Naomi denies it - but she has her own 'Paddington Bear' version of his 'Hard Stare' - which is both amusing, and terrifying. But seriously, Naomi is lovely - and well liked by customers and colleagues.
Outside of work, Naomi loves driving around in her new car - and enjoys socialising and spending time with her family.
Gayle Law - Credit Control
Gayle joined the team in early 2013, and is responsible for the credit control processes within the office and makes sure that invoices are being paid on time! She really has an eye for detail and is very methodical, making her a valued addition to the team. Gayle is friendly, hard-working, and always goes the extra mile to help our customers.
Gayle loves the theatre and enjoys going to see shows, shopping and spending time with her two children.
Joining us in 2012, Tanya has come originally from a hairdressing background. After perfecting her art, she was looking for a change - and chose Verve to get started with. She is extremely enthusiastic about everything, and is always well received.
Tanya is known for her sharp wit, and for her attention to detail. Well known for her impulsive and creative ideas - she keeps everyone smiling and cheerful. She is working her way through her list of ambitious things to do before she is 30 - and we like hearing about her plans for the next thing on her list. She has two young children, and loves to spend time with them.
Steve Harris – Installations Manager
Steve is responsible for many of our installations and has many years of project managing furniture projects to ensure smooth operation. Steve is very methodical and his attention to detail is that of a true perfectionist.
A devoted family man, and keen fisherman he enjoys spending time at the riverside - but not as much as he'd like.
Jon Sparks – Accounts and Bookkeeper
Jon makes sure that all the incoming invoices are organised properly, and that all outgoing invoices are correct - and of course paid on time!
